The work

A portfolio-style look at the types of performance therapy offered through Slamans Chiropractic and Performance.

Initial Evaluation and Movement Assessment

The first visit starts with an initial injury assessment, clinical history, and medical evaluation to understand what happened, what matters most to the patient, and what needs to change next.

  • Clinical history and injury assessment to identify the primary problem and training demands.
  • Medical evaluation to create a clear game plan for treatment, return to training, and next steps.
  • Movement assessment across mobility, mechanics, and movement strategy.
  • Physical capacity testing, including strength testing and Hawkin Dynamics force plate testing when appropriate.

Hands-on recovery

Manual therapy is utilized to help reduce sensitivity, improve range of motion, calm pain, and prepare the body for better movement.

  • Hands-on interventions may include instrument-assisted soft tissue work, myofascial release, joint mobilization, joint manipulation, cupping, and other recovery modalities.
  • Pain mitigation tools can include red light therapy or laser, ESTIM modalities, Compex TENS units, NMES, NerveOTX direct current, Owens Recovery BFR units, Normatec compression therapy, and massage guns.
  • Each session is selected based on the patient’s presentation, sensitivity, training demands, and the movement goals established during the evaluation.

Return to play

The transition from rehab back to game speed, sport demands, or high-level performance is often the most challenging part of the process. Performance is the goal, but health is always the number one priority.

  • Evidence-informed progressive programming helps the athlete move from rehab to performance with safety, structure, and reduced risk of injury recurrence.
  • Tools like the Boost treadmill can support a graded return to running while managing load and confidence.
  • Plyometric training, power development, and traditional strength and conditioning are used to prepare the athlete for the specific demands of their sport.

Remote Programming

For athletes who are not local, remote programming provides specific performance training or rehab programs built around the athlete’s goals, injury history, schedule, equipment access, and return-to- sport demands.

  • Individualized performance training or rehab programming for non-local athletes.
  • Progressions built around movement quality, physical capacity, and sport demands.
  • Programming that can support return to training, return to play, or long-term performance goals.

Golf Performance Assessment

A golf-specific evaluation designed to enhance power and strength while minimizing injury risk. The assessment connects how the body moves, produces force, and expresses power through the golf swing.

  • Movement assessment to identify mobility, stability, and sequencing limitations.
  • Strength and power testing on Hawkin Dynamics force plates to measure how the athlete produces and transfers force.
  • Swing analysis using 4D motion capture to connect physical capacity with golf-specific mechanics.
